Sometimes I wonder how it is possible that a sensitive girl like Fatima can continue to accept our proposals. I probably think that the poor woman has no other choice and that this is one of the means of livelihood for her that she just can’t escape. And so, as much as we may be sorry for ourselves, all this is still very pleasing and gives us one more reason to find new and more tormenting situations to which to subject the unfortunate woman.
